Power Outage Causes Disruptions On Flour Bluff

Flour Bluff—A major power outage has caused over 4,000 AEP customers to be without power Thursday evening. A portion of Flour Bluff, including much of Laguna Shores, Waldron, Yorktown, Caribbean and Mediterranean areas are all without power. AEP estimates that power could be restored by 11:00 p.m.

The outage, which occurred around 8:00 p.m. did cause some disruptions to a track meet being hosted by Flour Bluff ISD. The outage occurred as one of the final races had just begun. Officials will confirm at a later date as to what impact the outage will have on the meet or to UIL standings.

Travel along Waldron became immediately hazardous as traffic lights were out at Waldron and Glenoak, coupled with increased traffic from the track meet. Traffic was noticeably heavier however, no major incidents have been reported.

Update: (10:50 p.m.) Parts of Waldron Rd. are still without power and may not be restored until early morning, possibly until 12:30 a.m. or later.

This is a developing story.
