Sharks Take Win Over Thunder In Exhibition Play

Corpus Christi—FC Corpus Christi took home a win at home Saturday night under the lights of Dr. Jack Dugan Stadium against the FC Thunder of Boerne. The match was scoreless until the 14 minute mark when Noah Wagner scored what would be the first of 6 Shark goals on the evening.

Moments later Ollie Wright scores for the Sharks, this time on a penalty kick at 16:47 in the match. Wright would leave the evening having scored an impressive 3 goals on the night.

The Thunder defense was able to gather some with for several minutes until the Sharks scored twice right before the break in both the 36th and 38th minutes.

After the break, the Thunder showed no signs of either offensive or defensive improvement against this young and speedy Sharks squad. The Sharks would go onto score twice more in this match at the 21st and 36th minutes of the second half. Adrian Villanueva would also end up scoring a goal for the Sharks in the 65th minute of action.

While the Sharks never let up on the Thunder, the Borne squad showed impressive speed on the turf  however it was just not enough Saturday to over power this young Sharks team here in Corpus Christi tonight.

There were an estimated 1,200 fans in attendance at Dugan Stadium Saturday night.

The Sharks play 7 more matches here at home on the turf at Dr. Jack Dugan Stadium in this, The expansion team’s second season. The next home match for the Sharks comes on May 17th when they take on the AHFC Royals from Houston. The Royals finished third in the mid south division in 2018 under Head Coach Josh Gardner.
