Small Fire Causes Evacuation At Flour Bluff High School

Flour Bluff--A small fire broke out just before 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning in an air conditioner motor at the Flour Bluff High School. The fire, which was quickly contained did force the evacuation of students.

The campus did in fact loose power for a portion of the day which made it difficult for students and staff. Classes resumed normal schedule at around 2:00 pm Thursday afternoon.

District spokesperson Kim Sneed said that students were sent to the Athletic Facility and the Varsity Gym.

Sneed said that the partial power outage continued during the lunch periods and the students had lunch in the cafeteria based of their normal lunch period and returned to the Athletic Facility or Varsity Gym.

The district says that communication was sent to the high school parents since that was the only campus affected.

The initial call was at approximately 11:25 a.m. A follow-up phone call was made at 12:35 p.m.

“Our priority is always students safety and well-being first,” Sneed said.

Damage total estimates are pending, according to fire officials
