News Alert: 300 Acre Brush Fire Burning Near Falfurrias

Falfurrias—Emergency crews and state resources are working to get a fire contained near Falfurrias, Sunday evening. 

Crews from 3 Nueces County Emergency Services District stations are assisting local firefighters from around Falfurrias  and the Texas Forest Service to get a handle on the blaze. 

The “30 Fire,” as officials have named it has burned through some 350 acres and was approximately 50% contained, according to the Texas Forest Service Sunday evening.

The fire is located in a remote area approximately 15 West-Southwest of the city of Falfurrias. A spokesperson with the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office said that as of 9:00 pm no evacuations have been ordered and they did not know if any structures were being threatened. 

An airdrop had been called in earlier in the day to help spread retardant on the fire. However, the Texas Forest Service was forced to suspend air operations due to nightfall.
