Scrimmage Between Flour Bluff And Alice Raised Over $2,000 For A Great Cause

Flour Bluff—The Hornet Nation over in Flour Bluff along with the Cowboys from Alice High stepped up to the plate Friday evening over at Hornet Stadium. 

In a post on social media late Friday evening Flour Bluff Head Coach And Athletic Director Chris Steinbruck said that at Friday evenings scrimmage  between the two teams raised over $2,000 for a worthy cause. 




Spectators were asked to make a $2 dollar or more donation to the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Benevolence Fund which provides aid in hardship cases that extend beyond those covered by the current Permanent Injury and Memorial Benefit policies.




The fund was created back in 2005, the fund has allowed the enhancement of aid for both Permanent Injury and Memorial Benefits candidates.

Friday’s game was part of the “Our Day to Shine” campaign established by the association to help raise funds for their continued work. 

According to the association’s website the group has raised $626,000  for the THSCEF Benevolence Fund and has paid over $550,000 to athletes and coaches experiencing hardships.
