Forecasters Still Watching The Very Active Tropics

A tropical disturbance heading for Florida and the Gulf of Mexico has a 60% chance of developing into at least a tropical depression, hurricane forecasters said Wednesday morning.

If the system strengthens to a tropical storm, it will be Humberto.

Forecasters say that the system would likely  bring higher tides and heavy rainfall to portions of southeast Louisiana and coastal Mississippi on Sunday and Monday leaving us here in the Texas Coastal Bend pretty safe for now.

Forecasters also were tracking two other systems in the Atlantic Wednesday. This week is the historical peak of the Atlantic hurricane season, which ends Nov. 30.
