Two Teens Injured In Shooting Over Cellphone On City’s South Side

South Side—Police are on the scene of a shooting in the 1600 block of Airline Road near Williams this afternoon after two teens were shot in what is believed to be an argument over a cellphone. 

The incident happened around 2:40 Wednesday afternoon when officers responded to a call regarding a possible shooting. Moments later officers were dispatched to a freestanding emergency room on South Staples where two teens were being treated for gunshot wounds. One of the teens was shot in the chest and the other was shot in the leg. 

Both teens were transferred to Bay Area Medical Center where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

A 19 year-old male was in custody for the shooting and charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon are pending.
