“I just trying to get outside and enjoy some of this nice fresh beach air,” said area resident Jose Hernandez, while he was fishing Friday afternoon near Cole Park.
Without a doubt, city parks have been noticeably more crowded this week as residents find themselves with a little more time on their hands.
Friday was a balmy, warm day for the most part, and people were still out in sizable numbers along the waterfront.
“I have noticed more families walking around, walking their dogs, and just enjoying the parks, there’s been a lot more people,” said Jarrett Jones of Flour Bluff. “I’m just trying to get out of the house a little bit and see stuff that I normally do not get to see because I am working at the plant during the day."
City of Corpus Christi officials maintain that people are less likely to be clustered together in parks, and that the coronavirus does not spread well outside. Health officials maintain that indeed, it is safe to be outside.
